Who we are
The Golden Scriptorium (thegoldenscriptorium.com) is an unofficial, fan-run Warhammer 40,000 lore and community site. For anything privacy-related, contact us at info@thegoldenscriptorium.com.
What we collect and why
- Newsletter (“Swear Fealty”). If you subscribe, we collect your email address (and name, if given) to send you lore updates and site news. We use WordPress form and email tools (WPForms, Hostinger Reach) to manage this. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email, and we will remove you from the list.
- Raffles and giveaways. When you enter a giveaway we collect your name, email address, and a record of your entry actions (for example following one of our social channels), using RafflePress. This is used solely to run the giveaway, verify entries, and contact the winner. Winners are contacted by email; we never ask for payment. Entry data is deleted within 90 days of the giveaway ending.
- Comments. If you comment on a chronicle, we store the comment, your name and email, and IP address. Comments are checked for spam by Akismet (Automattic Inc.), which processes this data on our behalf. If you use an email registered with Gravatar, your profile image may be displayed.
- Server logs and caching. Our host (Hostinger) and caching layer (LiteSpeed) keep standard technical logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security and performance.
Advertising and cookies
This site does not currently serve third-party advertising. If we enable advertising in the future (for example via Ezoic), you will see a consent banner on your first visit letting you accept, decline, or configure the use of cookies for personalised ads, and this policy will be updated to describe exactly what is collected and by whom.
Embedded content
Chronicles and the Vox-Cast section embed videos from YouTube and link to our social channels (YouTube, TikTok, Facebook). Embedded content behaves as if you visited that site directly — those platforms may set their own cookies and track your interaction with the embed under their own privacy policies.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law (UK GDPR / GDPR) you can ask us to access, correct, delete, or export the personal data we hold about you, restrict or object to our processing of it, and withdraw any consent you have given. Email us at info@thegoldenscriptorium.com and we will respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk) or your local supervisory authority.
Retention
Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. Giveaway data is deleted within 90 days of each giveaway closing. Comments remain until you ask for their removal. Technical logs rotate automatically.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We will post any changes to this policy on this page with an updated date.
